Born from a shared passion for the sea, Compass Boats began in Athens in the late 1960s, when brothers Dimitris and Markos Samouhos set out to build boats that blended craftsmanship with character. Their early success, launched a tradition of smart design, reliability, and innovation that quickly made Compass a trusted name in Greek boating. Over the decades, the company expanded its range, its reach, and its reputation — from local waters to international markets. Today, Compass remains a family-driven brand, combining modern technology with timeless values of quality, care, and a true love for the sea.
Brothers, Marco and Dimitri Samouhos start building Compass fiberglass boats paired with Crescent outboards, in Athens.
Compass 12, 14 and 15 are the first production models. All open runabout boats that represent the main trend of the 60s.
More models are added to the production. 426, Norway and the legendary 490, grow Compass Boats share in Greece, well establishing the brand in the market.
This year marks the introduction of the first sailing boat produced by Compass Boats, the 426s.
The newly organised Boat Shows are the industry’s main platform for promoting new boats. Compass Boats participated in all Athens Boat shows till 2017.
Sigma mini was the flagship of our sailing boat range. With a length of just over 6 meters, she was very spacious and big enough for 4 people.
As the company moved forward, the need to introduce a new logo was necessary. That year two new models where introduced, the 601 Vip and the 601 family!
The 90s were a hard decade for the brand. Strong financial problems along with changing market demands, resulted in minimized production.
With strong determination, Dimitri, the only head of the company then, started producing new models aiming mainly on cheaper boats built with the same values that established the brand.
Dimitri’s three of the four sons, George, Fotis and Kostantinos, step in and aim for new horizons expanding the journey of Compass Boats through time.
This year, along with the introduction of the “GT” line, we launched the first pilot-house model of the Compass Boats range, the 19 Fisher. We also introduced the new “S4” liner, that minimizes the use of wood in the production process.
Compass Boats moves forward and incorporates the new C.A.D. and CNC technology for the design of the new “CC” line that replaces the “GT” line. The first model is the 150cc followed by the 135cc and the larger 165cc.
The fruit of this collaboration is the 190 range, that consists of three new models. The 190 Br, 190 cc, and 190 Sf. Compass boats now is again one of the leading manufacturers in Greece.
We introduced the first stepped hull model Compass boats ever produced, the “7s”. Again with the collaboration of “MEKY”, the expectations were very high, and oh boy, this hull really delivered!
From 1965 till today, Compass Boats moved to 8 different premises. This year we moved to “Tanagra”, about 50 klm from Athens. We now have the space and equipment to built larger boats and accelarate production.
